Naughty Dog, the developer of latest survival horror video game, The Last of Us has confirmed that there are two versions of the game, one for the North American markets and another for the European markets.

Numerous reports suggested that some of the graphic content in the European version of the game was different from that of the North American one.

A representative from Naughty Dog, EvangM responded to the comments made by user named Ramify on the Naughty Dog forum confirming that there have been slight changes in the content to comply with the legal requirements of those countries.

"Sorry for the delay in responding, but we've been super busy. And we do read all of your and other fans' messages, but there's a lot of them! Anyway here we go:

1. The gore and violence ratings are subject to local regulatory boards in various countries, so the game must be slightly changed in order to accommodate those choices.

2. To be honest, I'm not sure what version Australia is getting. If you import the North/South American version, it will not be censored, but EU/UK will be," EvangM posted.

According to PlayStation and Naughty Dog forums, the censored content was isolated to The Last of Us' multiplayer matches, where the developer had removed the enemy limb dismemberment and there was a reduced spray of blood while killing other players in the game.

An official explanation has not yet been given by Naughty Dog.

DLCs Coming Soon, Says Naughty Dog

Meanwhile, Bruce Straley, game director and Neil Druckmann, creative director of The Last of Us revealed during a Reddit Ask Me Anything session that downloadable content for the game will be soon on its way out.

"News is on the way about the first DLC drop. Should hear about it this month," said Druckmann.

Straley confirmed what was previously known about the The Last of Us Season Pass where players will be getting one single player story DLC and two multiplayer DLCs.

Druckmann hinted that some characters from the game will be returning. When asked about additional story content focusing on Joel and Ellie, "It's possible. We're playing with some ideas, but no direction has been set yet for the next game," he said.

The Last of Us has only had pre-order bonuses and contents like extra skins, multiplayer bonuses and early access to upgrades in the single-player mode in the special editions, IGN reported.

The game is a PlayStation 3 exclusive and was released on 14 June 2013, receiving critical acclaims for the various aspects in the game.
